Swedish Prepositions: Understanding the Logic Instead of Guessing
Why do Swedes say i bilen but på bussen? Why is i used in one situation and på in another, even when they seem very similar?
Many Swedish learners try to memorize prepositions one by one, but that approach rarely works in the long run. In reality, many Swedish prepositions follow a certain logic and reflect the way Swedes perceive space, time, and different situations.
In this webinar, you'll discover how native speakers think when choosing a preposition and why some combinations sound natural while others do not. We'll explore prepositions of place and time, as well as some of the most common prepositions that cause confusion even for intermediate and advanced learners.
After this lesson, you'll feel much more confident choosing the right preposition and will rely less on guessing and memorization.

My name is Svetlana Svensson
I am a teacher of Swedish for foreigners with more than eight years of experience. I am originally from Russia and moved to Sweden in the nineties. I started my career as an elementary school teacher, but soon realized that I wanted to help people who were going through the same things I was: moving to a new country and feeling integrated into a different society.
Over the years, I have taught Swedish to students of different nationalities and levels. I enjoy teaching students from zero to fluency, guiding them all the way! My courses are a total immersion in the language and culture of Sweden. I explain in a way that anyone can understand and I am always happy to help students.
